Studio X Labs has provided auditioning, voice direction, recording, speech editing and output mastering on a range of productions in both the videogame and broadcast formats. The studio has been involved with videogame speech recording since 1999 and has streamlined the recording process to accommodate seamless Remote Voice Directed sessions. Vancouver is known as “Hollywood North” and is a world centre for videogames, film and animation. The city boasts a large acting community of top voice talent.

Project Description: Studio X Labs had the pleasure of being the remote recording studio for Counterplay games who cast actor Mark Oliver in the lead role of Orin in their recent Godfall release. The studio is equiped with a high-resolution audio and video feed from the recording room to allow Voice Directors to remotely direct Vancouver talent. We have provided this service to many studios including SideLA, SideUK and the Formosa Group.

Project Description: DeathSpank, is an action role-playing video game developed by Hothead Games and published by Electronic Arts. Game designers Ron Gilbert and Clayton Kauzlaric created it. Studio X Labs worked with Hothead Games to cast, record, edit and master. The game became known for its great voice characters led by Michael Dobson as Deathspank.

Project Description: Studio X Labs was responsible for casting, recording, voice direction, editing and audio mastering for release. The original Japanese recordings were versioned to English to match performing length, tone and level of projection. 25 actors were cast to voice 63 distinct character parts (many actors doubling and tripling voice roles). There were 7,000 lines of dialogue to record and edit.

Project Description: Studio X Labs was the contracted studio responsible for booking voice talent, being the production’s Union signatory and paymaster for the voice talent, voice recording, dialogue editing and audio mastering for release. There were 22 actors cast in 40 distinct character roles (many actors doubling and tripling voice roles). There were 12,000 lines of dialogue to record and edit.
